Many of the efforts underway within the OSI (e.g. committee work, operation, working groups) require direct participation by Board members. I was wondering about what level of participation you will be able to provide and how your time might be best spent?
Great question, Patrick (and I see you've asked the same of all the candidates). I can commit to the full set of responsibilities outlined on the OSI Board description (http://opensource.org/board), including the monthly phone meetings, face-to-face meetings, participation in discussions, prompt voting, and leadership or delegation of tasks as needed. I've been on the board of three other open source foundations, and some of my previous roles/tasks have been: chairman, president, legal liason, strategic planning, board representative to the grants committee, new committee structuring for new initiatives, fundraising, event planning, booth staffing, swag purchase, logo design, web design, system administration, flamewar calming, conference presentations, and blogging. Basically, I'm happy to jump in anywhere I can be useful.
