About Me

I am a Partner, Father, Explorer. Founder Command Prompt, Inc., United States PostgreSQL and Postgres Conference. I am a Public Speaker, Published Author, Postgresql expert, and People believer. I am also the host of: More than a Refresh a podcast about data and the people who wrangle it. I have been in Open Source since the early 90s, with my first Linux distribution being SLS. I have founded an Open Source non-profit (United States PostgreSQL), served on the board of other Open Source Non-Profits (Software in the Public Interest) and have successfully operated a professional services consultancy since 1997 (Command Prompt, Inc.).

I would like to see OSI expand into freely available education on Open Source topics. Specifically, through virtual training and webinars. Further, I would like to extend the reach of OSI to community members who do not normally follow nor possibly even know who OSI is. This will help continue to strengthen OSI through increased membership, value provided through good works and free educational content.

My goals are more focused on the "people" side of OSI with a passion in continuing to advocate the benefits of Open Source to external communities and entities. 

In short, it is people that are the basis and future of Open Source. We need to be reaching more of them, working with them and listening to what their needs are from our organization.
